I have a question, it is not a right or wrong answer but an opinion: Here is the deal…We all know drugs are real, they are tearing up families, our cities and our churches….one thing the federal government did to combat the drug problem was to stop benefits for drug users or dealers….here is how it works out: If you are convicted in Louisiana of a drug felony you forfeit your “right” to receive food stamps, w.i.c. or welfare monies for 1 year. Now I am in favor of doing what we need to do to get rid of drugs, BUT I also think this has hurt the children of these moms and dad and grandparents….they get food from somewhere….i just don’t want them getting it from stealing my car or TV. This may hurt more than it helps???? what do you think? I do know one thing:

I believe we could make drug convictions punishable by death and it wouldn’t matter in most instances. An addict usually doesn’t look past the next high it really doesn’t matter what the consequences are.

I bet a republican passed that law! No, but seriously, I think that law stinks, like you said, the kids are the ones who pay, they lose a parent to drug abuse and incarceration and then they lose much needed federal assistance for food. I hate politics!
